POSTDOC POSITION IN COGNITIVE ECOLOGY
I have a one year postdoc position in my lab (Vladimir Pravosudov, Behavioral and Cognitive Ecology lab,  http://chickadeecognition.com) to work on the NSF funded project investigating spatial learning and memory in free-living food-caching mountain chickadees at high and low elevations in Sierra Nevada. This is a field-based project and we work in the rugged mountain conditions along an elevation gradient from ca. 6,000 to 8,300 feet in the Lake Tahoe National Forest (about 40 min drive from Reno). Most memory testing takes place in late fall and winter with lots of snow (up to 16.5 feet or almost 5 m snow depth at our high elevation site last year), which requires using snowmobiles (or sometimes snowshoes or skies) to reach our testing sites. We use RFID-based feeders to test spatial learning, which generate large amount of data, so experience with analyzing and manipulating large data sets using R or any other programming language is required. Experience working with birds and with mist-netting is also helpful.
The position is only for 1 year ($47,400 plus benefits). If interested, please email directly to me at [email protected].
