Scholarship Selection Process for the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology - IPUSP – 2019
The Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology of the Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo (PPG PSE-IPUSP) publishes the public notice for the selection process of 1 (one) scholarships for the National Postdoctoral Program (PNPD) based on the Portaria CAPES no 086, of July 03, 2013, in the period of April 29 to May 22, 2019. 1. OBJECTIVES
1.1. The present public notice refers to the selection of a researcher to fill one postdoctoral position with a scholarship provided by the National Postdoctoral Program to collaborate with the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology.
1.2. The PNPD, as an institutional grant program, funds postdoctoral positions with the following objectives:
I. Promote the accomplishment of studies of high scientific level. II. Strengthen national research groups.
III. Renew the academic faculty of the Postgraduate Programs in the Institutions of Higher Education and Research.
IV. Promote the insertion of Brazilian and foreign researchers in a post-doctoral position, stimulating their integration with research projects developed by the Postgraduate Programs in the country.
1.3. It is expected that the activities carried out by the selected candidate will include the involvement in high-level research, teaching in postgraduate education, and supervision within the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology.
2. MODALITIES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES
2.1. The candidates may apply in one of the following modalities described in Portaria CAPES no 086, of July 03, 2013:
A. The candidate must be Brazilian or a foreign resident in Brazil holding a temporary visa, with no employment relationship (up to 60 months);
B. The candidate must be a foreigner, residing abroad, with no employment relationship. The candidate must prove your residential address abroad at the time of the submission of the application (up to 60 months).
C. The candidate must be a professor or researcher in the country with an employment relationship with other higher education institution (IES) or public research institution (article 5o. of the PNPD/CAPES regulation, up to 12 months).
2.2. As a prerequisite to receiving the scholarship, the approved candidate must have a Ph.D. title obtained in programs evaluated by CAPES and recognized by the CNE / MEC. In the case of a diploma obtained in a foreign institution, the Postgraduate Program must analyze it before approval.
2.3. The candidate must provide an updated Curriculum Vitae within the Lattes Platform of CNPq or, if foreign, the candidate must provide a complete Curriculum Vitae with history of patent registrations and/or publications of scientific and technological works of impact and/or awards of academic merit, among other information considered relevant.
2.4. The candidate must not be retired or be in a similar situation.
3. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
3.1. A PNPD/CAPES grant will be provided for each selected candidate with a value of R$ 4,100.00 per month.
3.2. For the selected candidate in the modalities "a" or "b" of art. 5o, item V, the duration of the scholarship will be 12 (twelve) months, and it may be renewed annually until reaching the maximum limit of 60 (sixty) months.
To request a renewal, the scholarship holder must submit a Annual Activity Report within 30 days before the scholarship expires, along with the justification for renewal and a plan of activities for the next period, as well as an updated copy of the Curriculum Vitae within the Lattes Platform, to be evaluated by referees indicated by the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology according to the following criteria:
• List of publications and academic productions • Report on the activities carried out
• Scientific report
• Supervisions
• Detailed work plan with a timetable in case of a renewal request
For the candidates approved in modality "c", of art. 5, item V, the maximum duration of the scholarship will be 12 months, with no possibility of renewal.
3.3. CAPES may provide funding in the “consumables” modality to carry out the project, according to its availability.
4. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION
The candidate should send the following documents in pdf format to the e- mail [email protected], with the following subject: PNPD/CAPES PSE 2019 - full name of the candidate, from Abril 29 to May 22, 2019.
•Completed application form(available on the website of the Institute of Psychology);
• Letter of motivation for the application in the program; • Copy of document proving the Ph.D. title;
• Copy of RG or RNE or copy of passport;
• Copy of the CPF for residents in Brazil;
• Updated Curriculum Vitae within the Lattes Platform (http://lattes.cnpq.br/) or, in the case of foreigners, the candidate should fill in Annex III of Portaria CAPES no 086, of July 03, 2013 (http://www.capes.gov.br/bolsas/bolsas-no-pais/pnpd- capes). The publications of the last three years (2016-2019) should be sent in pdf format to the e-mail: [email protected]
• Two letters of recommendation (containing, among other details: relationship between the candidate and the author, number of years of collaboration/supervision, evaluation of other collaborators, ability to lead an independent research project) addressed directly by the author to the PPG secretariat in word (.docx) or pdf format ([email protected]) with the following subject: PNPD/CAPES PSE 2019 Recommendation full name of the candidate.
• Work plan, which should contain:
o Research project to be developed. The candidate can indicate a supervisor for the project (with their consent), or leave it to the CCP- PSE for later indication if the candidate is selected (in this case, the
candidate should make this position clear in the project and indicate the coordinator of the PPG as a supervisor in the application form). Potential supervisors and laboratories can be found at these addresses: http://www.ip.usp.br/site/docentes-8/ and http://www.ip.usp.br/site/laboratorios-pse/. The project can be written in Portuguese or English.
o Academic project (including proposed postgraduate activities, such as an activity plan and an extension course program to be offered to postgraduate students and potential undergraduate supervision). The project can be written in Portuguese or English.

5. OBLIGATIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP HOLDER
5.1. Dedicate full-time to project activities. The expected scholarship activities include:
I. Develop original research according to the project submitted at the time of the application;
II. Publish or submit two (02) scientific articles in indexed journals per year, resulting from the research carried out during the period of the scholarship; if the publication does not relate to the project submitted, the candidate should provide a detailed justification, in the case of a request for renewal, which will be evaluated by the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program.
III. Participate in academic activities with the PPG, such as coordinating seminar cycles and/or extension courses, assisting in the organization of events promoted by the Program, participating in seminars, and otheractivities that might be required by the Program during the validity of the scholarship.l
5.2. Prepare an Annual Activity Report to be submitted for the approval of the Postgraduate Program and submit a Final Report within 60 (sixty) days of the scholarship ending.
5.3. Do not take a leave of absence without the consent of the Postgraduate Committee. The activities should be developed at the Institute of Psychology, a unit to which the fellowship will be bound, and the research activities cannot be carried out at distance, except for temporary leave for fieldwork or other activities related to the research project, duly reported in the plan and approved by the CCP.
5.4. Meet the norms and requirements of CoPq RESOLUTION No. 7406, OF OCTOBER 03, 2017, which provides for the Post-Doctoral Program of USP.
5.5. Refund CAPES of any funds received irregularly when verified the non- compliance with the rules of the PNPD and its exceptions.
6. SELECTION
6.1. The selection of the candidates will be made in three stages. 1) Analysis of the work plan provided 2) Analysis of the Curriculum Vitae and the letters of recommendation and 3) An interview for the candidates classified in the analysis of the work plan. These three stages will have equal weight in the final classification.
6.2. The selection process will be carried out by a committee of professors designated by the Coordination of the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology, which will use the same criteria of the funding agencies (CNPq and FAPESP), taking into consideration the quality of: 1) the work plan (including research and academic activities); 2) Analysis of the candidate's Curriculum Vitae and of the letters of recommendation; 3) the interview.
6.2.1. In the evaluation of the work plan, it will be considered: 6.2.1.1. In relation to the research project:
I. Definition and relevance of the objectives;
II. Originality;
III. The relevance of the proposed methodology;
IV. Adequacy of the project to a postdoctoral program;
V. Viability of project execution using the available infrastructure; VI. Feasibility of carrying out the project within the foreseen period. 6.2.1.2. In relation to the academic project:
I. The relevance of the proposed extension course.
II. Proposals for involvement in other postgraduate activities.
III. Proposals for involvement in other undergraduate activities.
The evaluation of the work plan (stage 1) is an eliminatory stage. A grade from 0 (zero) to 10 (ten) points will be assigned. Candidates whose work plan do not reach the minimum grade of 7 (seven) will be disqualified.
All the candidates classified in the evaluation of the work plan stage will be interviewed, following the item 6.3 of this public notice.
6.2.3. In the evaluation of the Curriculum Vitae and letters of recommendation (Stage 2), the following items will be considered:
6.2.3.1. In the evaluation of the Curriculum Vitae:
I. Scientific publications;
II. Coordination and/or participation in research projects;
III. Possible supervisions and co-supervisions for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students;
IV. Professional activities or others, when applicable;
V. Diplomas, courses, and other university honors.
6.2.3.2. In evaluating letters of recommendation:
I. Candidate's ability to design and lead a research project with autonomy; II. Candidate's ability to work as a member of a team;
III. Candidate's ability to produce scientific articles;
The stage concerning the evaluation of the Curriculum Vitae and the letters of recommendation (stage 2) is classificatory and each candidate will be assigned a grade from 0 (zero) to 10 (ten) points.
6.3. The interview (stage 3) can be performed presentially, by videoconference or using Skype. The candidates will be invited in a public notice published on the website of the Institute of Psychology and by e-mail.
The invited candidates must formalize the chosen mode to carry out the interview through the email [email protected] with the following subject: PNPD/CAPES PSE 2019 - Interview - full name of the candidate. The Selection Committee will not be held responsible for any technical failures (e.g.: lack of internet, sound cuts) during the videoconference or Skype interview.
The interview is a classificatory stage and each candidate will be assigned a grade from 0 (zero) to 10 (ten) points.
6.4. The final classification of the candidates will be determined according to the grades obtained in each stage of the selection process, with equal weight for each one. Candidates with a final grade equal to or greater than 7.0 (seven) points will be considered approved.
7. RESULTS AND RESOURCES
7.1. Successful candidates will be ranked in descending order according to the final grade awarded by the Selection Committee.
7.2. The first candidate in the final classification will be selected for the granting of one scholarships of the National Postdoctoral Program - PNPD / CAPES.
7.3. If there is a tie in the final scores, the following tie-breaker criteria will be considered, respectively: 1st) grade of the work plan, 2nd) grade of the interview, 3rd) grade in the analysis of the Curriculum Vitae.
7.4. The final result will be published on the following website: http://www.ip.usp.br/site/posdoutorado/
7.5. Requests for appeal must be sent by e-mail ([email protected]) within 2 calendar days after the disclosure of the result.
7.6. The applicant's unjustified non-attendance to commence activities within the deadline established by the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Experimental Psychology will be considered as a withdrawal, implying the automatic cancellation of the approval. The Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program may, in this case, indicate a new approved candidate following the order of classification established in item 7.1.
7.7. The final result of the selection process will be valid for 06 months, counting from the disclosure of the result.
7.8. If additional scholarships become available during the period of validity of this selection process results, the candidates will be appointed according to the order of the final classification of approved candidates.
8. GENERAL PROVISIONS
8.1. The schedule that will be established for the interviews described in this public notice refers to the official timetable of Brasília.
8.2. The Selection Committee shall, when necessary, issue supplementary rules and official notices, using the website http://www.ip.usp.br/site/posdoutorado/ and electronic addresses provided at the time of application, being the candidate fully responsible for accessing all the information provided.
8.3. The implementation of the scholarship will follow the rules established by CAPES.
8.4. Cases that are not covered in this public notice will be judged by the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program.
