ABS Annual Meeting

June 26-29, 2024, London, Ontario, Canada (Workshops on June 25th).

Dear ABS Members and Friends.

Please join us June 26-29, 2024 (workshops on June 25) at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada! London – also known as the “Forest City” – has riverside trails and parks as well as downtown dining and entertainment just a short transit ride from campus. Western University is an accessible and inclusive campus; housing will be available in modern, air-conditioned dorms, and we expect all conference activities to be in the same or nearby buildings. London is easily reached by air, rail and road. Travel information is available on the meeting website.

We are excited to have our LXIst annual meeting in person and virtual sessions following the meeting. Our Keynote Address will be delivered by ABS fellow Dr. Tamra Mendelson. We will also have a Fellow’s Lecture from Dr. Leticia Aviles, three Plenary Lectures, and the Presidential Address from Dr. Vanessa Ezenwa. There will be 8 exciting symposia, some on research topics that include female ornamentation and reproductive competition, the behavior and welfare of free-ranging wild animals, and animal communication networks. Other planned symposia include “Increasing the visibility of LGBTQ+ scientists and building a queer-friendly community” in ABS, a special symposium with presentations from past Charles H. Turner awardees, the annual Allee Award Session, and a Past-President’s Symposium highlighting the legacy of undergraduate programs in animal behavior. In addition to the annual Charles H. Turner Workshop, there are four other planned workshops to be held on June 25th. See below for the names of all plenary speakers, symposia, and workshops.

Following a long tradition, we will continue with the Silent Auction! So please consider bringing cool and interesting items to be auctioned off (e.g., artwork, books, past ABS swag); all proceeds go to one of the ABS award funds (Graduate Student Research Awards, Latin American Initiatives Fund, George W. Barlow Award, or Student Travel Grants).

We will continue to plan fun and exciting events for you and if you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to one of us. We look forward to seeing you in London, Canada!

All non-Canadian citizens will need a valid passport (and in some cases, a travel visa) to travel to Canada. For US citizens, passport renewals are taking approximately 2 months for expedited service. Please renew your passport ahead of time! As of Feb. 29, 2024, there are new visa requirements for Mexican Nationals entering Canada.
