ABS Annual Meeting

Dear ABS Members and Friends.

Please join us July 8-12, 2025 (workshops on opening day, July 8) at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, USA! Baltimore – also known as the “Charm City” – is a port city with a rich history, as well as a number of accessible parks and museums and a great food scene. The Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor is right on the harbor, a very short walk away from the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, and Federal Hill Park. All conference activities will be in the hotel. Baltimore is easily reached by plane (BWI or nearby Washington DC airports), train (Baltimore Penn Station), and automobile. Travel information is available on the meeting website.

We are excited to have our LXIIst annual meeting in person and virtual sessions following the meeting. Our Keynote Address will be delivered by ABS fellow Dr. Ximena Bernal. We will also have an Animal Behavior Research in Society Lecture from Dr. Ambika Kamath, three Plenary Lectures, and the Presidential Address from Dr. Emily DuVal. There will be 5 exciting symposia on research topics that include animal behavioral responses to life in urban environments, the role of working dogs in wildlife conservation, and international collaborations in animal behavior, with a focus on Latin America. Other planned symposia include the annual Allee Award Session, and a Past-President’s Symposium organized by Alfredo Peretti and Mariela Oviedo-Diego with support from past-president Vanessa Ezenwa highlighting the value of rarities in advancing our understanding of animal behavior. In addition to the annual Charles H. Turner Workshop, there are three other planned workshops to be held on July 8th. See below for the names of all plenary speakers, symposia, and workshops.

Following a long tradition, we will continue with the Silent Auction! So please consider bringing cool and interesting items to be auctioned off (e.g., artwork, books, past ABS swag); all proceeds go to one of the ABS award funds (Graduate Student Research Awards, Latin American Initiatives Fund, George W. Barlow Award, or Student Travel Grants).

We will continue to plan fun and exciting events for you and if you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to one of us. We look forward to seeing you in Baltimore, Maryland!

Please note that all non-US citizens will need a valid passport (and in some cases, a travel visa) to travel to the United States. Information about travel and visa requirements can be found at the US Department of State website, here. Additional information and links to US embassies with visa requirements by country can be found here: https://www.usembassy.gov/.
