The Department of Animal & Poultry Sciences seeks a full time Shelter Welfare Research Assistant who will travel to study sites, assist in the coordination of the Maddie's Nationwide Sheltering Study, and provide general research support to the research lab. Under supervision, the research assistant will be responsible for responding to emails, collaborating with the existing research team, scheduling meetings between the research team and study sites, visiting research sites, supporting research sites in their data collection, maintaining and tracking spreadsheets including but not limited to data collection spreadsheets and enrollment spreadsheets, issuing reports, and other tasks as needed as part of the Maddie's Nationwide Sheltering Study.
Experience working in an animal shelter settings (either on a professional or volunteer basis); Excellent planning and organizational skills; Ability to multitask, prioritize and work collaboratively with others; Experience managing calendars and coordinating travel; Advanced interpersonal skills to communicate with a variety of personalities and interaction styles; Strong attention to detail; Advanced skill with Microsoft office suite including Excel; Advanced skill with cloud storage applications including Dropbox and Google Drive; Advanced skill with video conferencing applications including Skype, GoToMeeting, Zoom.
Bachelor's degree or higher; Experience in conducting research projects; Experience working in a university setting; Previous experience with purchasing cards, reimbursements, and requisitions.
