The Department of Science at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta in Camrose, Alberta, Canada invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in integrative biology with a starting date of July 1, 2022.
Responsibilities associated with this position include: undergraduate teaching, development of an active research program, and service. Specific to these responsibilities, the successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for, or a record of, effective and engaging teaching at the undergraduate level, and mentoring and supervision of students. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in introductory evolutionary biology and vertebrate functional anatomy, along with additional upper-level courses in an area(s) of specialization such as tropical field ecology, advanced evolutionary ecology, physiological ecology, and/or animal behaviour. Applicants will have a Ph.D. in Biological Science or a related discipline, and an integrative background in one or more of the areas described above.
The Augustana Faculty enrolls approximately 1,050 undergraduate students in arts and science Bachelor’s degree programs with an interdisciplinary focus on a picturesque campus. Augustana's student body is rich in diversity, more than 18% of our students are international and 4% identify as Indigenous. Located in Camrose, Alberta, approximately 90 kms southeast of Edmonton, we are on Treaty Six territory which provided a travelling route and home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Métis, as it did for the Nakoda, Tsuu T'ina and Chipewyan, and other Indigenous peoples.
