ANIMAL BEHAVIOR SOCIETY (ABS) FILM FESTIVAL
Results of the ABS Film Festival for 2013
This year’s ABS Film Festival was attended by an enthusiastic 203 people. We screened eight wonderful films and had interesting discussions that included the actual directors in some cases. Due to the excellence in all eight finalists, it was a difficult decision. But after careful deliberation, the Film Committee is happy to announce that the ABS Film of the Year awards.
Winner, Commercial Division:
"Wild Scandanavia: Norway" directed by Jan Haft
Winner, Non-Commercial Division:
"Ordinary, Extraordinary Junco" directed by Jonathan Atwell
Now in its 30th year, the ABS Film Festival features outstanding films that portray important concepts in animal behavior research and education. Categories include both professional (commercial) and amateur (non-commercial) films produced in the preceding five years. In this way, the Film Festival promotes the Animal Behavior Society’s goals of research, teaching, and conservation at the university level. In addition, ABS members are encouraged to bring short video clips of their own to share in an informal film event
The festival is attended by several hundred scientists, professors, applied practitioners, and students from across the globe.
