Current Position: Professor of Biology and Graduate Program Director, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Research Interests: Behavior, ecology, and adaptive radiation in Darwin’s finches; vocal performance, development, and learning in songbirds; sexual selection and communication; Neotropical ornithology; bioacoustics.

John Swaddle

Education: B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology and Zoology, 1991, University of Bristol, UK; Ph.D. Biological Science, 1994, University of Bristol; Natural Environment Research Council postdoctoral research fellow, 1994-1997, University of Glasgow, UK; Royal Exhibition of 1851 postdoctoral research fellow, 1997-1998, University of Chicago; Royal Society of London University Research fellow 1998-2001, University of Chicago and University of Bristol.

Current Position: Professor of Biology, College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA.

Research Interests: Animal communication, sexual selection, biomechanics, avian life histories, developmental stressors, ecotoxicology, noise pollution, conservation science, environmental sustainability, reduction of bird hazards.

ABS and Related Activities: 1st Member-at-Large (elected 2011); ABS Executive Committee (2012-now); ABS Development Committee (2013-now); volunteered to judge at ABS Film festival, and to judge student poster awards; Meeting Host and Local Organizer of 47th Annual ABS meeting at College of William & Mary (2010). Melissa Hughes

Research Interests: Territorial and mate choice behavior in crustaceans and birds; communication, particularly form/function relationship in signals.

Research Interests: Social evolution, multi-level selection, and animal personality in spiders and social insects; evolutionary dead-ends and extinction risk; the role of behavior in population and community ecology.
