PhD position - Behavior and Biology Education Research
Grad Positions
Posted Dec 4
The Biology Education Research Group at the University of New Hampshire is seeking a PhD student to begin a new investigation to study the efficacy and psycho-social effects of place-based learning experiences and how these experiences inform career choice decisions.  Broadly, our labs investigate how self-beliefs and values relate to achievement and persistence in undergraduate biology students, and how validated pedagogical innovations increase student performance in biology classes.

In the UNH Department of Biological Sciences, graduate students can complete their PhD in Integrative Organismal Systems (IOB) while conducting their dissertation research in biology education research.  UNH is home to a vibrant community of discipline-based education researchers in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics education.  This position offers the opportunity to gain teaching experience through Teaching Assistanceship tuition, fees, and stipend support, as well as summer support through a grant-funded Research Assistanceship.

Applicants should contact Dr. Melissa Aikens ([email protected]) or Dr. Carrie Hall ([email protected]) for more information.  Preferred applicants should have completed a Master’s degree in biology or a related field before matriculating to UNH.  Applications are due to the UNH Graduate School by January 15, 2020.
