Posted Apr 16
Dear colleagues,

Researchers in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology at Brown University are conducting a study titled: Investigation of undergraduate STEM research experience disparities. This study was approved by Brown University's Institutional Review Board (STUDY00001071) and was determined to be Exempt. The goal of this study is to investigate the differences in research experience between disabled and non-disabled undergraduate STEM students. You may be eligible if you meet all the following criteria:
  1. 18 years old or older
  2. Undergraduate student enrolled at a university or college in the United States
  3. Enrolled in or intend to pursue a STEM major
  4. Can read, write, and answer questions in English
You will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey that will take about 10 minutes to complete. The survey contains demographic questions about your enrolled institution, major, research experience, and disability status. However, you do not need to identify as having a disability or health condition to complete this survey. After reading the key information and providing your consent, you can choose to withdraw at any time prior to submitting your answers. No information will be collected if you decide to stop taking the survey prior to completion. There are no direct benefits to participation. There is an optional opportunity to enter a raffle for one of ten gift cards for participation. If you choose to enter, your contact information will not be linked to your survey answers. There will be a separate link you can follow upon the completion of the survey to enter the raffle. The deadline to complete the survey is May 31st, 2026.
